Why do I always need to say “tell Miele” or “ask Miele” to operate the skill?
Amazon gives the option to fix some general functionalities in your platform, which means you can call these up without naming the skill (e.g. switching on and off, temperature queries and similar).
Miele also allows you to do this. Search for your Miele appliances in the devices area of the Alexa app and you can then access certain functionalities more easily and also incorporate them into routines.
For example, you could create a routine which you start with the sentence “Alexa, good morning!”, where your blinds open and the light and your Miele coffee machine switch on.
Please note that Miele offers plenty of additional, exclusive features that cannot be integrated natively into the Alexa platform (at the moment) due to their innovativeness and therefore need to be called up explicitly from the Miele skill using “tell Miele” or “ask Miele”.
These include, for example, displaying the camera image from your oven on your Echo Show, opening your oven door or proactively activating a notification to inform you as soon as your washing machine is done (“Alexa, tell Miele to remind me when the washing machine is done”).
At Miele, we are trying our best to make accessing our features as easy as possible you and are therefore constantly working on offering you more and more features without explicitly having to say the name of the skill.
At the same time, we also want to wow you with our new and innovative features and would therefore like to invite you to try these out with your Miele Alexa skill. For this, say “Alexa, open Miele”.
