Unlike a freestanding dishwasher, which has its own finished exterior and can stand on its own or in a utility space, an integrated model is fixed in place and blends into the kitchen as if it were never there.

The best way to choose an integrated dishwasher depends on your kitchen design and household size.

Miele dishwashers follow a standard 60cm width which fits most kitchen cabinet niches designed for an appliance. However, our slimline models, designed for compact kitchens, measure 45cm.

In terms of height, most of our integrated dishwashers sit at 80.5cm, but with adjustable feet to ensure the perfect fit underneath a countertop. Our XXL models have a height of 85cm, offering a larger interior.

If you’re planning a new kitchen or are replacing an old integrated dishwasher, always check both the width and the height of the niche before ordering. You can always find the exact dimensions on the model listing for each appliance in the product specifications, or ask our experts for advice.

Not all dishwashers can be integrated. Freestanding dishwashers have a factory-finished exterior and are designed to stand independently. They cannot be fitted with a cabinet door panel or concealed inside a unit or may be too tall to sit under a countertop.

If you are fitting out a new kitchen or renovating, it is worth deciding early on whether you want an integrated appliance, as the kitchen units need to be designed around the dishwasher niche from the start.

Start by measuring the width of the cabinet gap where the dishwasher will sit. For any Miele integrated dishwasher, you will need a width of at least 60cm, or 45cm for a slim-line model.

Then, measure the height of the niche from the floor to the underside of the worktop: standard models need a minimum of around 81–82cm, while XXL models require approximately 85cm.

Bear in mind you'll need to allow a little extra space at the back for plumbing connections. It's also worth checking where your water supply and drainage connections are located, and making sure the power outlet is accessible behind the unit.
