Casing is getting very hot

The casing of the vacuum cleaner is getting very hot.

Not a fault!

Due to its high output, the motor transfers a lot of heat to the casing. This is normal and does not affect the appliance in any way.

Suction tube blocked.

Something bulky has been vacuumed up (e.g. large leaves from house plants) and is blocking the suction tube. The casing gets very hot as air is unable to escape as required.

Disassemble the floorhead, hose, handle and telescopic tube.

You can carefully push large items which are jammed in the hose or in the telescopic tube towards the floorhead using a long object (e.g. a broom handle).

Items causing a blockage are usually easy to shake out of the handle.

Dust container full and/or filters dirty.

A full dust container or a dirty pre-filter or fine dust filter can impede the optimum discharge of exhaust air from the vacuum cleaner. The casing gets very hot as air is unable to escape as required.

Switch the vacuum cleaner off.

Remove the plug from the socket.

Remove the dust container.

Empty the dust container.

Release the handle of the pre-filter.

Remove the pre-filter.

Risk of damage caused by incorrect cleaning.

The pre-filter can become damaged and be less effective as a result.

Do not use washing-up liquid or any pointed or sharp-edged objects to clean the filter. Dry the pre-filter carefully after cleaning. After cleaning, allow the pre-filter to dry for a minimum of 24 hours.

Rinse the pre-filter under cold running water.

Release the fine dust container from the vacuum cleaner in the direction of the arrow.

Remove the fine dust container.

Risk of damage caused by incorrect cleaning.

The fine dust filter can become damaged and be less effective as a result. Do not clean the inside of the fine dust filter.

Do not use washing-up liquid or any pointed or sharp-edged objects to clean the filter. Do not brush the fine dust filter. After cleaning, allow the fine dust filter to dry for a minimum of 24 hours.

Run a little water into the opening at the top of the fine dust container.

Gently shake the fine dust container back and forth. This will rinse out the dust.

Shake to empty the water out.

Turn the upper part in the direction of the arrow so that the marking is pointing to the  symbol (1). This releases the upper part.

Carefully lift the fine dust filter upwards and out of the fine dust container (2).

Rinse the outside of the fine dust filter under cold running water.

Clean the fine dust container with water and mild washing-up liquid. Dry the fine dust container carefully.

Insert the dry fine dust filter into the dry fine dust container so that the marking is pointing to the  symbol (1).

Turn the upper part in the direction of the arrow so that the marking is pointing to the  symbol (2). The upper part is locked.

Refit the fine dust container in the vacuum cleaner and lock it into place.

Lock the handle.

Place the dry pre-filter back inside the dust container.

Refit the dust container in the vacuum cleaner.

Cable still retracted.

Heat is generated by any part of the cable that is still retracted and coiled inside the vacuum cleaner. This heat is transferred to the casing.

Pull the cable out as far as possible.

To avoid overheating, every vacuum cleaner features an auto switch off function.
