              Steam cooking can help you to create great tasting food and at the same time, make life easier. But it’s be an unfamiliar way of cooking, so we’ll do our best to help keep it simple, to help you decide if it should be included in your kitchen design.

              Miele’s relationship with steam goes back a long way, in fact we have been pioneers of this technology for decades – and by 2016, we’d put our finishing touches to our millionth steam oven, highlighting the increased popularity of steam over the past few years.


              What can you cook in a steam oven?

              You can cook many things in your steam oven, from cooking porridge, reheating meals, defrosting meats, or even cooking grains and pulses 

              Plus, most of the things that you would cook on the hob can be easily cooked in the steam oven, and the best thing is that cooking times will remain the same. Not only that, but it also doesn’t matter how much food you add in, cooking times will not change. That means that it takes the same time to cook 20 salmon fillets, as it does to cook 1, just five minutes. 


              Benefits of steam

              The benefits of using steam are plenty, there is no loss of nutrients or flavour, and no need to season heavily afterwards either as everything tastes how nature intended

              The other benefit of cooking with steam is that unlike hob cooking you don’t need to supervise your food, so you can relax and enjoy time with your family or guests while the food is cooking, safe in the knowledge that your steam oven is taking care of everything.


              Miele precision 

              For us steam cooking is all about precision. Our steam ovens offer accuracy to within 1 degree of the temperature you choose thanks to a combination of our Dual Steam injection technology and our precise temperature calibration - we even calibrate our steam ovens for altitude, this allows you to cook even very delicate foods perfectly and use precise low temperature styles of cooking such as sous vide.


              Automatic Programmes

              For those who are new to cooking with steam, Miele appliances can take the guesswork out of cooking thanks to Automatic Programmes, which allows the ovens to make decisions on how to cook your food based on the results you want. Simply select the automatic programme for the desired meal and follow the on screen instruction, or via the Miele app on a smartphone.
