The coffee machine failed to perform automatic cleaning 3 times. When switching on, the message is displayed: Automatic maintenance could not be performed. Perform automatic cleaning as part of automatic maintenance (duration min.) now? Otherwise, automatic cleaning will be permanently switched off as part of automatic maintenance. If you decline automatic cleaning now with No, automatic cleaning will be permanently disabled. The message Remove & store cleaning cartridge is displayed every time the coffee machine is switched on until you remove the cartridge.
Risk to health due to inadequate cleaning.
Heat and moisture inside the coffee machine can cause coffee residues to become mouldy and/or milk residues to go off and pose a risk to health.
If automatic cleaning is switched off, you will have to clean the milk pipework and degrease the brew unit manually. For this, you will need the cleaning agent for milk pipework and the tablets for degreasing the brew unit.
Switch automatic cleaning back on via the settings:
Touch the sensor control.
Select Settings and then Automatic cleaning.
Select the setting you want and confirm with OK.
The following requirements must be met for automatic cleaning to be carried out:
Ready-to-use cleaning and descaling cartridges are inserted.
Automatic cleaning is switched on.
The coffee machine is connected to the mains power supply during automatic cleaning.
The drip tray, brew unit and central spout are inserted.
If filling the water container manually: the water container is inserted and is filled with water at least up to the mark.
Carry out the instructions which appear in the display before switching off, e.g. Empty and insert the drip tray and grounds container.
The appliance door is closed before starting automatic cleaning.
The coffee machine is switched off.
