Fill and/or replace water container

Fill and/or replace water container appears on the coffee machine display even though the water container is full.

Deposits have formed in the water container that leave it wet and make it seem full to the fill level sensor.

Clean the water container, proceeding as follows:

  • Remove the water container.

  • Clean the water container in the dishwasher or by hand using warm water and a little washing-up liquid.

  • Dry the water container.

  • Push the water container back into the machine.

Change the water every day to prevent a build-up of bacteria.

The water container is not positioned properly in the coffee machine (countertop appliance).

Remove the water container.

Clean the surface underneath the water container.

Make sure that the valve, the underside of the water container and the surface under the water container are clean. Otherwise the water container will not sit correctly.

Push the water container back into the machine.

The float switch is jammed. [CM 5000, CM 5100, CM 5200]

The CM 50xx–CM 52xx countertop appliances have a float switch in the water container. The float switch detects the fill level.

Empty the water container.

Check the water container and particularly the inner part of the float switch for deposits.

Shake the water container to check whether the float switch moves.

If the float switch moves and no deposits can be detected, fill the water container and refit it.

If the float switch does not move or if, despite its motion, deposits can be detected, clean the water container as follows:

  • Remove the water container.

  • Clean the water container in a dishwasher if possible. Or: soak the water container overnight in warm water and a little washing-up liquid.

  • Dry the water container.

  • Fill the water container and refit it.

  • Repeat the cleaning process regularly.

The minimum fill level Min has not been reached. [CVA 78xx, CVA 7775]

The CVA 7xxx built-in appliances need water for the coffee machine’s automatic cleaning programmes. Before switching off, the coffee machine checks whether the water container is filled up to the Min fill level marking. If the minimum fill level has not been reached, the coffee machine will automatically prompt you to refill the water container, even if the water container is not empty.

Fill the water container at least as far as the Min mark.
