A top quality, efficient and capable machine
As a family of 6 the struggles of drying the mountains of laundry with our old, slow condenser dryer were becoming an issue, especially during the winter months when it couldn’t be line dried and therefore a solution was needed. After much online research we took the decision to buy a heat pump dryer, mainly due to the running costs per load which are significantly lower than vented or condenser models and because these machines (like our previous condenser model) don’t need an external vent. We did have some initial concerns about drying times based upon various reviews and comments around heat pump dryers and we were prepared for some extended drying times as a result, however our experience is that these concerns were unfounded. I should say that we always spin the laundry well prior to using the dryer and we rarely operate it with a full 9kg load, but drying times are on a par with condenser dryers and we can normally dry a load on the “normal” setting in around 60 – 80 minutes give or take. Although the laundry can feel damp when first taken out a good shake and it seems as dry as necessary for cupboard storage, use “normal plus” and you can pretty much wear it out of the dryer, though it will take another 10-15 minutes. Cost wise, based upon the machine data the cost per load is averaging around £0. 10 to £0. 15 for us. It’s true to say that there are several features that we rarely use and some that we never use (such as the Fragrance Dos), so depending on your needs you may be better served looking at one of the cheaper models, and that the internet connectivity is not especially useful (to us). The app is serviceable and offers some basic information and functions but it’s not something to buy the machine for alone unless you really, really need a remote start feature (which you probably don’t!). As for our choice of brand we had had a Miele washing machine and dishwasher for several years prior to this purchase with no issues and therefore we had no hesitation in purchasing another Miele machine despite the higher initial cost versus some other brands. We know the quality speaks for itself and so far we have had no problems meaning I would, subject to your individual needs, have no hesitation in recommending this machine.
