Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting

The programme does not start

Check that the mains plug is correctly inserted and that the fuse has not tripped.

Check that the door is closed properly and that the correct programme has been selected and started. A number of Miele washing machines have a system lock to prevent unauthorised use in shared laundry rooms.

Check that this lock is deactivated. Information on activation and deactivation is given in the operating instructions.

The Check inlet/drain light flashes (or lights up constantly)

Check that the stopcock is opened fully or whether the water inlet hose is kinked.

Clean the fluff filter and drain pump as described in the operating instructions.

If several indicator lights flash simultaneously and/or an alarm sounds, please contact our Customer Service.

The Pre-wash, Main wash/Wash or Rinses indicator light flashes

Switch the appliance off and then back on again. Start the programme again.

If the same error message appears, there is a fault and our Customer Service should be contacted.

Strange noises during the wash cycle

If these noises occur at the beginning and end of the pump sequence, this does not indicate a fault.

Check whether the appliance is correctly positioned. Information on secure positioning is given in the operating instructions.

Check the machine for foreign objects at the end of the wash cycle.

Clean the fluff filter.

The drum door cannot be opened

Check that the mains plug is correctly inserted and that the fuse has not tripped. Miele washing machines feature an emergency door release for use in the event of mains failure or if the water outlet is blocked. Proceed as described in the operating instructions.

Please note: If laundry has been washed at a high temperature, water draining out of the machine will still be hot. There is a risk of scalding.

Faulty drum lighting (not applicable for all models)

The washing machine will still operate as normal with no lamp in place or if lighting is faulty.

Check that the protective cover is firmly secured. To secure the lighting unit, proceed according to the operating instructions.

Instructions on bulb replacement are also given in the operating instructions.

General fault prevention

To prevent damage to fabrics and machine components, before starting the programme, check that pockets do not contain any foreign objects.

Check the door seal at the end of the programme.

Please note: Repair work to electrical appliances should only be carried out by a suitably qualified person in accordance with local and national safety regulations. Repairs and other work by unqualified persons could be dangerous. The manufacturer cannot be held liable for unauthorised work.
