Quieter than any other machine
The standard Miele motor is an electronically controlled DC which runs very smoothly and quietly. Top-of-the range models feature a motor developed for professional machines which works without carbon brushes. It does not suffer wear and tear, is maintenance-free, and is even quieter than the standard Miele.
This new option allows you to reduce noise levels when using your washing machine during quiet periods, for instance when people are sleeping. It takes advantage of a special wash rhythm and activates the rinse hold option to prevent the washing machine spinning when it could disturb you.
All Miele washing machines are extremely efficient in their use of energy. With a standard household load of 3.5 kg, Miele washing machines only use 0.19 kWh of energy per kg of laundry and achieve an A rating for energy efficiency. Wash a full 7 kg load of laundry in a W 5000 and the energy consumption drops to just 0.15 kWh per kg of laundry which is an amazing 20% more economical than Energy Efficiency Rating A (measured using the Cottons 60°C standard test programme DIN 60456).
Cast iron support
Another piece of tried and tested Miele quality: other washing machines have a concrete stabiliser to prevent vibration which can crack and hinder stability over time. The weight of the Miele cast iron cradle keeps the washing machine stable, even at high spin speeds. To ensure the smooth and quiet operation, we subject the cast iron support to an endurance test of 25 days continuous spinning.
