Miele Milestone - Celebrating 80 Years of Dishwasher innovation

Date of release: 07/09/2009

10 Year Warranty

May 2009 – Miele, the UK’s premium domestic appliance brand, is celebrating 80 years of leadership in dishwashers with the launch of a Special Edition Miele G1225SC.

Originally invented in the 1880’s, by American society hostess Josephine Cochrane, to solve the problem of her servants being too slow and chipping her expensive china, Miele took the machine to the next level. In 1929, Miele developed Europe’s first electrically powered dishwasher. From here, followed the continuous innovation now synonymous with Miele’s premium home appliance range, with developments such as the first automatic dishwasher (the G10), the first dishwasher with electronic sensors and controlled wash programmes (the G560 in 1979), and more recently, market leading features including cutlery tray, salt container in the door, 'Add-an-item' without comprising wash results, and ‘AutoClose’ door function.

Reducing consumption has been a leading principal of Miele’s company philosophy for many years. Between 1980 and 1983, Miele dishwashers had already cut water consumption by well over 40% and energy consumption by almost 30%. Continuing in this vein, the AAA-rated Miele G1225SC offers reduced energy and water consumption when compared to the standard Miele G1222SC model (Energy from 1.05 to 0.95 kWh / Water from 13l to 10l). All Miele dishwashers use intelligent technology to adapt to circumstances and make the most economical use of electricity, water and salt. Further reductions are also found in the noise level, with the machine operating at a mere 44 dB(A), and the duration of the programme now only 169 minutes.

A further benefit of the Special Edition Miele G1225SC is the increased capacity from 12 to 14 place settings. It also features a third level cutlery tray where every item has its own slot meaning it doesn’t touch any other piece of cutlery, and water runs off freely, assuring excellent washing and drying results. The cutlery tray also allows the washing of silver and stainless steel cutlery in the same load without any damage.

The Special Edition G1225SC Novotronic controls are fully electronic meaning less wear and tear to the control system. Additional features include turbo function, delay start option and Auto Sensor for more accurate results.

Available from John Lewis and leading independent domestic appliance retailers the Special Edition Miele G1225SC will be available in May for around £749 and comes with a free 5 year warranty.

Miele is Germany's 'Best Product Brand'

Date of release: 18/02/2009

Best Brands 2009

The highly coveted ‘Best Brands’ have been awarded for 2009 and Miele are delighted to have been awarded first place in the ‘Best Product Brand’ category. The 'Best Brand' awards are based on a comprehensive market survey performed by GfK Market Research. This poll is designed to gauge brand strength as well as the attractiveness of the brand and to assess the most successful brands with respect to their ability to meet future challenges. In order to determine the 'Best Product Brand', GfK assessed the share of market of just under 200 of the best-known companies from 30 sectors covering fast-moving consumer goods and consumer durables. This involved collating information on success indicators such as market share, price premium and customer loyalty.

Telephone interviews were also held with consumers who were questioned on the attractiveness of brands which had previously been identified as the most successful. The aspects assessed were brand confidence, brand identification, the willingness to pay a premium for a branded product and quality. The best product brand was selected by bringing together a brand's success in terms of generating revenue with softer assets as reflected in a brand's appeal to consumers.

Co-proprietor and Managing Director of Miele & Cie, Dr Reinhard Zinkann said “‘we are extremely happy and pleased with such an illustrious prize. We view this commendation as confirmation of the Forever Better philosophy which our company has put into practice through generations” he continues, “The 'Best Brand' award endorses our claim to quality and our continual pursuit of technical perfection”.

Miele wins best domestic appliance brand at Which? awards

Date of release: 05/07/2007

Premium appliance manufacturer Miele proved their worth after winning Best Domestic Appliance Brand at the first ever Which? Awards, set up to recognise and congratulate companies that have excelled throughout the last year.

With a short list including many well-known brands, Miele outshone all its competitors with "outstanding quality across a wide range of products for the home" according to Which? themselves!

The win comes after an incredible 18 Best Buy awards across seven categories for Miele – twice as many as their nearest competitor. Miele products have also been voted best on test in a record-breaking four categories.

"Whether you want a dishwasher, vacuum cleaner or washing machine, Miele provides outstanding quality for consumers across a wide range of products."

"Miele products are easy to use and produce excellent results, and with unrivalled Best Buy results, it’s clear to see why Miele has been named Best Domestic Appliance Brand." Say Which?

The prestigious award ceremony was presented by news reader, Fiona Bruce, at The British Museum in London and was attended by an array of representatives from many well known organisations all hoping to walk away with the first ever Which? Award.

John Kershaw, Head of Marketing for Miele, comments: “Miele have achieved numerous Which? Best Buy recognitions over the years, but receiving the first ever award for Best Domestic Appliance Brand really is the icing on top of the cake.

"Miele’s products are built to give the best results and last the test of time, so it’s a huge honour to be recognised for something we pride ourselves on."

Miele pips Google and Porsche to the post!

Date of release: 16/04/2008

The results are in and premium German domestic appliance manufacturer, Miele, was recently chosen as the most successful company in Germany in the ‘Best Brands Awards 2007’. In the 'Best Company' category, Miele beat last year's winner Google, which came second, and also Porsche, who were third. Miele also achieved a top-five place in the 'Best Product Brand' category.

The 'Best Brands Award’ is sponsored by Serviceplan, GfK and SevenOne Media and is held in high regard by the German branded goods industry. Now in its fourth year, the coveted prize is not awarded by a jury. Candidates who make it to the final round must be judged by two essential criteria, based on GfK’s ‘Corporate Reputation’ measuring method:

Current market success, the so-called 'Share of Market'

Attractiveness of the brand among consumers, the so-called 'Share of Soul'.

Therefore this is the first brand ranking which evaluates brands according to both their market significance and also their psychological appeal, which, after all, is the foundation for their future success.

According to a Company spokesperson: "For generations, Miele’s success has been achieved due to a consistent focus on reliability, durability, technology and service.” This award is seen as confirmation of our company philosophy of 'Forever better', a maxim which has been handed down through the years.

"We are proud to have received the award and attribute it to the teamwork of all Miele employees, worldwide, who live by this philosophy every day".

Date of release: 19/05/2008

According to popular online review site Reevoo, two Miele domestic appliances have been selected as part of a ‘Perfect Kitchen’. The concept of this ‘Perfect Kitchen’ was defined by thousands of consumers writing independent reviews on appliances.

The Miele W3922 WPS Softronic washing machine and the Miele G1222 SC dishwasher both received high scores by reviewers, with 9.5/10 and 9/10 respectively.

The results were compiled from products with more than 30 reviews. Kitchen appliances from washing machines and fridge-freezers to food processors and kettles were picked according to the ratings they received from consumers who bought and used the products.

"All of the reviews were collected from genuine shoppers who had bought the products from one of Reevoo’s retail partners which include stores such as Dixon’s, Comet, Curry’s and John Lewis."

"These independent reviews reinforce the positive experiences consumers have with the Miele brand. They recognise it as a brand that epitomises reliability, quality and innovation,” said Chris Wright, Miele brand communications manager."

Premium domestic appliance brand, Miele has triumphed at the Which? Awards 2008 by winning the ‘Best Domestic Appliance Brand’ category for the second year running. The win comes after scoring more Best Buys than any other brand across ten domestic appliance groups.

"Only the very best companies out of the hundreds whose products and services are tested by Which? make the grade and the winners are determined by Which? experts to be the very best of the best," said Which?

Miele’s score was unmatched, with a total of 22 Best Buys from ten of the categories its products were tested in. The brand was Best on Test in seven categories including dishwashers, freezers, fridge-freezers, washing machines, washer-dryers, tumble dryers, and vacuum cleaners.

Miele was one of only two companies to retain the award they won at the inaugural awards in 2007.

In a recommendation survey of Which? members, Miele had a ‘clean sweep’ of top scores across every category it appeared in and a reliability survey found that Miele washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers and cylinder vacuum cleaners achieved the highest reliability scores – with vacuum cleaners scoring an impressive 97 percent.

Miele lead the way with new Dishwasher range

Date of release: 13/08/2008

Premium domestic appliance manufacturer, Miele, shows the industry why they lead the way in innovation and technology, with the launch of the re-designed G1002/G2002 60cm dishwasher series.

From Spring 2007 the new range will offer a significant increase in performance features, including the exclusive Auto Close function, which, much like the Mercedes S Class, has a motor assisted door which allows it to be closed effortlessly. In addition, it opens automatically after the wash cycle is completed to aid the Drying Plus feature, another usp for Miele.

Stefan Pichetta, Product Manager for Dishwashers, comments: "With today’s busy lifestyles Miele understands that consumers need a dishwasher which, not only looks good in their home, but gives the maximum performance and convenience, making the washing up a pleasure not a chore! The fantastic new features, most of which are unique to Miele, within our G1002 and G 2002 series shows, once again, that Miele is one step ahead and is continuously looking deeper into what will benefit our consumers, now and in the future."

The performance and convenience of the new range is evident through the addition of Miele’s new features:

Timesave Concept
The core of this new concept is the Turbo option, which can be selected in various programmes, with time savings of up to 30% on average without compromising on cleaning and drying performance. In fact, by activating the Turbo option temperatures in the main wash and the final rinse are increased to ensure the same cleaning and drying performance as in the standard programme.

Sensor Dry Function
Exclusive to Miele, the Sensor Dry function optimises the drying time in the Sensor Wash programme, no matter the room temperature or load size. Offering consumers the most intelligent Sensor Wash programme on the market with perfect drying performance.

Drying Plus
Another USP for Miele is the Drying Plus feature, which utilises the unique motorised door mechanism. At the end of a programme, after the drying process, the dishwasher door is automatically opened by approximately 10cm. This further improves the drying performance by allowing residual moisture to evaporate. Additionally, a slightly opened dishwasher door indicates to the user that the programme has ended.

‘Crockery can be added’ info
This is a display message to indicate to users that further items can be added after the programme has started without affecting the cleaning performance. The prompt is cancelled automatically when an optimum cleaning performance can no longer be guaranteed. This is yet another feature that is only seen on a Miele dishwasher.

Whisper Quiet
With the re-design, Miele has reduced the sound emission even further, which will allow the new 60cm collection to achieve a new top level of 41dB.

What’s more, Miele’s unique indoor salt reservoir is now available on more models in the range and is available from the new mid-range models G 1252 SC/SCi and G 1282 SCVi upwards. This fabulous innovation means that users do not have to reach inside their dishwashers to re-fill their salt, they will pour the salt in through the, easy to reach, dispenser in the dishwasher door. Not only is the new range stylish, convenient and easy to use, every model is AAA rated, so even the environment benefits!

Miele dishwashers are designed and tested for a lifetime of 20 years.

Dishwashing Delight
Within the new care collection, Miele offers a selection of products for your dishwasher giving customers the shiniest dishes and most glistening glasses every time.

Each tablet contains active oxygen to dissolve proteins and starch in low temperatures for great results. Miele also offers a Dishwasher powder which gives all the benefit of the tablet but in a powder format for precise dispensing. The ergonomic bottle is also easy to store and incorporates an easy to pour spout.

To help reduce lime and water stains on your crockery, Miele has also produced its very own Rinse aid, which helps the drying phase by using a glass care formula to reduce etching.

Also available for your dishwasher is a Reactivation salt, Machine conditioner, Machine cleaner and Dishwasher freshener with a lemon scent to help get rid of unpleasant smells!

For washing machines, steam ovens and coffee machines Miele have also produced a range of descaling products, which are specifically designed to be used within Miele appliances to prevent scaling and ensure long term performance.

For cleaning the oven and hob, Miele have even created two cleaners specifically for those troublesome areas, which are excellent for dislodging stubborn, burnt on grease and spills.

What’s more, the Stainless steel conditioner removes fingerprints and water marks to give the kitchen a real, just like new, sparkle, and Miele are proud to endorse the well known E-Cloth, which is also included in the collection.

All products are available through Miele’s online accessories shop at www.miele.co.uk or by calling a Miele advisor on 01235 233133, option 1.
